Now... we wait. Well, I'm not waiting, with lots of planning and preparation to do, but we do have to wait to demolish. Our building permit should be done by at least next Friday, so I have fencing and portable toilet arriving next week. If all goes well, demolition will begin on Monday, November 7th.

Plan in Profile
While meeting with the City approved contractor for the sanitary and water upgrade, we found out that 72 Eagle was in front of a manhole the represented the "end of the line" for the sewer.. which means that it is one of the higher points of system. I whipped over to City Hall to get the "Plan in Profile" for the sanitary system and water supply, and sure enough, we've had to make adjustments to the depth of the foundation in order to have an acceptable angle for the floor drains to reach the sewer system.

COA Passed
As Herbert says, "I talk to Fortune 500 CEOs all the time, but going before this committee is very intimidating". Turns out, all the worry that a horde of neighbours will show up and complain about the home we're trying to build was not needed - we passed Committee of Adjustment with barely any questions and certainly no opposition. Now that that has passed, we can apply for our building permit and get moving.

The old house
Shots of the old house on 72 Eagle Road, Etobicoke. As we continue the design and approval process, we've taken care of removing old appliances (not sure how much people make recycling these old things, but it took 2 hours to get 2 fridges, 2 stoves, 1 washer, 1 dryer and an old wood burning oven out of the house).
